This cable connects to a Fleet Management Interface (FMI) capable Garmin navigation system with a USB mini-B style plug, and provides an NMEA 0183 output stream for compatibility with automatic vehicle location (AVL) systems or other NMEA-compatible equipment. Supported models currently include:
- Garmin nüvi 300 series
- StreetPilot c340
- StreetPilot 7000 series
- StreetPilot 2820 series
- StreetPilot 2720 series
- zumo 400 series
- zumo 500 series
Output is 4800 baud with GPRMC, GPGGA, and GPGLL sentences. The cable terminates in an 8-pin mini-DIN connector for the Yaesu FTM-350. Please note that only the nüvi 350 is so far known to display received waypoints properly - other models may display duplicates for moving stations, or no waypoints at all.
The Yaesu FTM-350's data port should be configured for packet mode at 4800 baud.
Overall length is 80" / 200 cm.
Please note that you must have the GPS receiver powered through its cradle for the cable to function. Power will not be provided to the translator cable if the unit is on battery power.
